3 Resume Improvement Tips That Every Dental Assistant Needs to Know

Searching for a job as a dental assistant? You’re not alone. And as a result, you’ll likely need to craft a stunning professional resume to find your dream job, particularly in today’s highly competitive job market.

Here are three tips that you can use to develop an eye-catching resume that highlights your background, education and professional experience without overwhelming potential employers:

1. Focus on the basics.

Your resume should paint a picture of who you are as a professional. At the same time, it should be clear and concise.

Ultimately, finding the right balance between creating an in-depth resume and a reader-friendly resume can be challenging for even the most diligent dental assistant. But those who emphasize the basic information that employers want to know can boost their chances of landing their dream job.

Including an objective statement that highlights your career goals, along with details about your education and work experience, is paramount. Furthermore, having the ability to provide professional references may help you transform a good resume into a great one instantly.

2. Capitalize on your educational background and work experience.

Your educational background represents one of the first things a prospective employer may consider when he or she looks at your resume. Thus, you’ll want to spend some time explaining where you went to school and all of the dental assistant duties and responsibilities you learned during your training.

Consider what an employer wants in a candidate as you prepare your resume. By doing so, you can tailor your educational background and work experience to fit this employer’s needs.

Don’t forget to review a job description and tailor your resume accordingly. And whenever possible, don’t be afraid to highlight your experience in specific areas mentioned in the job description, too.

3. Follow up with a phone call.

Want to stand out in a crowded job market? You can set yourself apart from other candidates by following up with a phone call to ensure an employer received your resume and find out if your credentials would complement this employer’s needs.

A phone call offers a great opportunity to add a personalized touch to complement your resume. Plus, a phone call only takes a few minutes to complete and helps you widen the gap between you and other applicants.
